The Tax Information Reporting Manager candidate will be an integral part of the Coinbase tax team supporting the day to day operations of the global tax information reporting and withholding function. This role will primarily focus on domestic and international global tax information reporting and withholding and collaborate in all aspects of Coinbase’s compliance with these requirements. The candidate also will work closely with the broader Coinbase product, platform and data functions and help drive initiatives for continuous process improvements.

The Coinbase tax team ensures that Coinbase complies fully with its tax obligations in all of the jurisdictions in which Coinbase operates. This includes building a world class set of tax protocols adapted for the holding, purchase, sale and trading of digital assets. What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

Review, and validate U.S. tax documents, Form W-9 and Form W-8 in accordance with IRS Tax Code. Including changes in circumstances.
Review and validate W8IMY non-withholding foreign partnership intermediary allocation structures and rate changes.
Second level review of documentary evidence related to Form W-9 or Form W-8 and review of tax self certification forms.
Manage tax documentation process for internal entities when tax documents are requested.
Respond to product and onboarding teams tax inquiries or ad hoc requests.
Work closely with the product, and onboarding teams on business requirements and data alignment.
Collaborate with customer support teams on internal education and ongoing customer support.
Research, track and analyze worldwide tax developments on global tax reporting and assess impact on Coinbase’s operations
Identify and oversee improvements to information reporting processes and procedures.
Assist with tax authority requests and notices
Heavy cross functional departmental coordination with many departments- product, data analytics, onboarding, customer service, communications, marketing and international teams.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

Substantial experience (3-5+ years) in tax information reporting, ideally with a bank/financial institution.
Strong technical skills in tax documentation review (W9/W8)
Experience managing high volumes of tax documentation collections
Experience with tax reporting tools
Excellently written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical tax requirements to both tax and non-tax audiences.
Outstanding detail-orientation and process-orientation skills.
Collaborative and positive orientation.
Willingness to pivot and learn.

Nice to haves:

Experience working with Snowflake, Looker or similar analytic tools.
Audit and exam experience.
Government (IRS, Treasury, OECD) experience.
Big 4 experience.
Basic knowledge of SQL

Pay Transparency Notice:

Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include target bonus + target equity + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).

Pay Range:

$130,900—$154,000 USD
