The Role
At a16z, we are building the next generation of media platforms for technology and entrepreneurship. As Podcast Network Lead, you will drive the strategy, operations, and growth of a network of externally created but strategically aligned podcasts. You’ll be responsible for sourcing, onboarding, and scaling partnerships with external hosts, ensuring affiliate shows meet brand standards while retaining creative independence. - Develop and execute the strategic plan for building and scaling the Podcast Network
- Identify, recruit, and onboard independent podcasts aligned with a16z’s editorial vision and tech-driven audience
- Manage partner relationships, providing strategic support, growth frameworks, and monetization opportunities
- Design and oversee partnership structures, incentives, and content quality standards
- Collaborate with legal and finance teams on affiliate agreements, revenue share models, and reporting frameworks
- Work with growth and analytics teams to optimize distribution, discoverability, and performance across platforms
- Build a playbook for helping affiliate shows grow their audiences, deepen engagement, and integrate with the broader a16z media ecosystem
- Track market trends in podcasting, creator economy, and tech media to inform affiliate strategy and network evolution
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years experience in media partnerships, creator management, or business development roles, preferably in podcasting or digital media
- Proven track record of building and scaling partner ecosystems or affiliate networks
- Strong understanding of the podcast industry, media monetization models, and creator economy dynamics
- Deep familiarity with technology, startups, and venture capital audiences
- Experience negotiating complex media or talent partnerships with attention to legal and operational detail
- Ability to manage multiple external relationships while maintaining brand standards and creative quality
- Excellent strategic, operational, and relationship management skills
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias toward building from zero to one in fast-paced environments
The anticipated salary range for this role is between $364,000.00 - $424,000.00, actual starting pay may vary based on a range of factors which can include experience, skills, and scope.
This role is eligible to participate in the a16z carry program and various discretionary bonus programs as well as benefit and perquisite plans including health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401K plan, vacation, and sick leave.
