Tetra Trust Company is Canada’s first qualified custodian for digital assets, addressing the critical challenge of secure institutional custody. As we scale our infrastructure and products, we’re looking for a
DevOps / Systems Engineer
to help us harden, extend, and automate the foundation upon which our digital asset platform runs.
This role is a key part of our engineering team, focused on infrastructure reliability, deployment velocity, and security. You will play a hands-on role in shaping the way we build and operate software — with a heavy focus on AWS and infrastructure as code — while also helping shape our internal IT posture as the company grows.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS) — including EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, Lambda, VPC, CloudWatch, and EKS
- Define and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, AWS CDK, or related tools
- Build and operate CI/CD pipelines to support safe, scalable, and automated deployments
- Support Kubernetes-based services (primarily EKS), container lifecycle, and orchestration strategies
- Implement and tune observability stacks (CloudWatch, ELK, Datadog, or similar) for system health and application monitoring
- Harden systems with IAM policy design, secure secrets management, and audit logging practices aligned to SOC 2 and GDPR requirements
- Play a cross-functional role in shaping internal IT infrastructure and policies — including device and access management, SSO/identity integration, endpoint security, and vendor tooling
- Collaborate with backend, frontend, compliance, and security stakeholders to ensure the platform is reliable, maintainable, and secure
- Support incident response and lead long-term reliability initiatives and blameless postmortems
✅ What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- 3+ years of DevOps, Site Reliability, or Systems Engineering experience, ideally in a regulated, fintech, or infrastructure-heavy environment
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services, architecture, and cost-aware design patterns
- Proven success managing production infrastructure and pipelines at scale
Core Technical Skills
- Proficiency with AWS core services (EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, CloudWatch, RDS, EKS, Route53, etc.)
- Deep understanding of containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD practices
- Experience with Terraform, AWS CDK, or other infrastructure as code tooling
- Fluency in Linux system administration and shell scripting; bonus for Python or Go for automation tasks
- Familiarity with observability tooling (Datadog, Prometheus, ELK, CloudWatch) and incident response best practices
Bonus
- Experience supporting or optimizing blockchain node infrastructure (e.g., Ethereum, Bitcoin, staking nodes, etc.)
- Familiarity with multi-cloud environments or cloud migration strategies
- Exposure to regulated industries, SOC 2, or ISO 27001 environments
- Interest or experience in cryptography, digital custody, or crypto compliance
🧭 Why Choose Tetra
- Work on real-world infrastructure problems that demand precision, security, and scale
- Collaborate with a driven, multi-disciplinary team building the technical rails for Canada’s digital asset ecosystem
- Help define both the cloud infrastructure and internal IT environment of a high-trust fintech startup
- Gain hands-on exposure to the evolving world of digital asset custody, including HSMs, blockchain nodes, and security-first design
