Business Transformation Consultant
I joined IBM in 1981 as a Systems Engineer. After various sales and sales management positions, I transitioned to a Corporate marketing role in the mid 1990s. I founded IBM's internal HorizonWatch research program/community in 2001 to help IBMers understand potential tech futures. I perform emerging tech trends research and deliver important market insights, helping IBMers with their business and technical strategies/plans. In 2016, I was named an IBM Distinguished Market Intelligence Professional (DMIP), one of only 18 people ever to get the award at IBM. From 2016-2021 I was on IBM’s Corporate Market Development & Insights "Bluemine" team. I was responsible for promoting content to IBM employees via email. I also served as a product owner for a newly launched (in late 2020) machine learning market insights tool called Verity. Verity uses a US patent-pending machine learning model to deliver facts, predictions, quotes, and other credible statements to IBMers via a unique one of a kind database and search engine. Since late 2021, I have been a member of the IBM Institute for Business Value (IBV) team where I am a Business Transformation Consultant responsible for all internal/external market segmentation as well as all global email marketing communications. In 2024, I have also taken on responsibility for IBM IBV generative AI activities. I was appointed membership into IBM's Academy of Technology (AoT) in 2014 and became a member of the AoT's Leadership Team in 2016. In 2018, I was awarded the President's Award for contributions to the AoT. I won the award for a 2nd time in 2019. In 2019, I was appointed VP, Strategy, AoT and became a member of the AoT Technology Council. From 2021-2023, I led the AoT Asset Review Board, which reviews all content and assets prior to their publication. In early 2023, I was awarded the AoT Lifetime Achievement Award. Note: The AoT was rebranded/reorganized as the IBM Open Innovation Community in 2023. I have a B.S in Finance from University of Illinois and an MBA from Kellogg Graduate School of Management (Evanston, Illinois). I love to play golf, enjoy fitness activities and reading. I volunteer for various local charitable organizations, including Food For Friends of Chicago and the Palatine POC. I live with my wife, Jennifer, in Palatine, Illinois. My two daughters, Sara and Ally, attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and are now out on their own building their own amazing careers. Note: My comments/discussions here on Icebreaker and all social media sites are my own views and not the views of IBM.
