As Executive Director of the Decentralized Identity Foundation, I drive next-generation digital identity solutions that empower individuals and broaden access to opportunities. My professional expertise in software development and engineering is anchored in a foundation of mathematics, applied math, and computer science, emphasizing algorithms and distributed systems. This expertise, combined with a proven ability to lead organizations and communities, enables me to strategically address complex challenges to drive meaningful change. My career includes developing foundational libraries and driving cross-cutting security and performance improvements for Microsoft's .NET framework, distributed algorithms and systems development, and developing novel machine learning techniques for language detection and sentiment analysis. These experiences demonstrate my passion for creating solutions for new, often undefined challenges. As CTO of Learning Machine, I led the creation of Blockcerts with MIT Media Labs, introducing blockchain-based digital credentials, and developed a commercial product based on this standard. This became one of the first commercially successful products grounded in self-sovereign principles. At Centre, I developed Verite, and open standard and open source framework, aimed at setting a new bar for privacy in financial transactions while maintaining compliance. In my work with global standards bodies and organizations such as the W3C and the World Economic Forum, I have led diverse groups to consensus on critical digital identity standards, playing a pivotal role in defining robust, scalable solutions that meet pressing global needs.
